TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH will demonstrate their comprehensive service portfolio and product innovations at the InnoTrans, the world's leading trade fair for transport technology, to be held in Berlin from 20 to 23 September. TÜV SÜD shares booth A 215 in the City Cube with its subsidiary, SIGNON.
“For several decades, our Business Unit Rail has ensured safe, reliable and available systems and processes in rail transport”, says Klaus Bosch, CEO of TÜV SÜD Rail GmbH. “In 2016, we are again using InnoTrans as an opportunity to join forces with our subsidiaries in presenting our comprehensive product portfolio. In this context, we also see InnoTrans as a platform to present our innovations and new developments.” The company's European subsidiaries include SIGNON, TÜV SÜD Danmark and TÜV SÜD Nederland. Manufacturers, operators and authorities benefit from an international network made up of over 600 experienced specialists from Asia, Europe and the USA. The Business Unit Rail offers services throughout the value chain, from engineering & consulting (provided by SIGNON) to testing, assessment, certification and training. Klaus Bosch explains, “We support our customers from the design phase, installation and commissioning of their products, including complete systems, to their operation”. At TÜV SÜD's booth, InnoTrans visitors will find the right expert for their needs at various themed information points covering rolling stock, light rail & metro, rail systems including signalling, infrastructure, and software & IT security.
New measurement methods and IT security for signalling
“Our development of the arc measurement method, which we will debut at the trade show, provides a second test method in conformity with the EN 50317 standard”, says Thomas Noack, test engineer at TÜV SÜD Rail. The test method is used to verify the design, quality and conformity of the pantograph in contact with the contact wire. “This method is significantly more cost-effective and faster than the standard method, which measures contact force”, confirms Noack. TÜV SÜD is also one of the first companies offering IT security for electronic signalling systems. The service is based on an array of standards including IEC 62443-4-1/3-2/3-3, EN 50159 and preliminary standard DIN VDE V 0831-104. That offers maximum protection against outside interference and malicious attacks on software-based safety systems.
